No Surprise Here At All

Italy is at it again. Politicians who got their pockets lined. I wrote before about how the Italians sold off their shoe making to the Chinese. Then the Chinese imported their own workers. With the Chinese lack of health standards and their insatiable desire to cut corners this is what was always going to happen. Guess what Australia, this is going to happen to us as well. Get used to the idea, our politicians had their palms greased well enough to earn their money and allow innocent Australians to die. Guess where the money went. Right again, the United Nations. What is the telling tale is India with all its poverty has about 20 cases with one old lady dying. Right again, they don’t have Chinese in India

Italy has recorded the highest jump in coronavirus-related deaths of any nation since the crisis begun, con 475 people dying in the past 24 hours.

Punti chiave:

  • Italy was the first Western country to impose severe restrictions on movement to contain the illness
  • The government lockdown banned all non-essential travel
  • Many regions are building makeshift hospitals to add badly needed intensive care units

The spike has taken its death toll to 2,978 in totale, as the number of cases hit 35,713 — an increase of more than 13 per cent from the previous day.

As the death toll soars, frustration has been growing over the number of people defying a nationwide lockdown order.

The government lockdown banned all non-essential travel, but allowed people to take daily exercise, if they needed to.

But with many defying the order, the Italian Government threatened on Wednesday to extend the ban to include all outdoor activities.

I believe that in the coming hours we will have to consider the possibility of a complete ban on outdoor activities,” Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora told state broadcaster RAI.

If the call to stay at home is not heeded, we will be forced to impose an absolute ban,” Egli ha detto.

‘Putting yourself and others at risk

Italy was the first Western country to impose severe restrictions on movement to contain the illness.

In successive decrees earlier this month, the Government ordered restaurants, bars and most shops to close until March 25.

In addition, it shut schools and universities and told everyone to stay home unless absolutely essential until April 3.

Officials warned that if the incidence of new cases did not slow in the coming days, they might extend the lockdown already in place, both in terms of the types of restrictions and how long they will continue.

Every time you leave your home, you are putting yourself and others at risk,” Mr Fontana said.

Since the restrictions were most recently ramped up on March 12, the number of deaths has more than tripled.

What the experts are saying about coronavirus:

  • Scientists say they now understand how humans can fight off and recover from coronavirus
  • Why shaking your boss’s hand is what COVID-19 wants you to do

I do not know if the measures will be extended beyond April 3,said Infrastructure Minister Paola De Micheli.

We will make a decision based on the numbers and events. I cannot rule it out. We will see in the coming days.

Hospitals at breaking point

Despite the restrictions imposed, the disease is still spreading and hospitals in the north are at breaking point.

The northern region of Lombardy, on the frontline of the battle against the respiratory pandemic, asked recently retired health workers on Wednesday to return to work and help colleagues overwhelmed by the crisis.

I make a heartfelt appeal to all the doctors, nurses and medical personnel who have retired in the last two years … to help us in this emergency,” regional governor Attilio Fontana told a news conference.
